I've gotten a little out of the habit of exercising every day. I'm trying to get back in the habit, but today Gloria Steinem spoke at my daughter's school and I introduced her, so I needed to be at the high school at 8. That made it tough to get up and exercise. I was going to do it before I went to work at noon, but instead I'm talking to you about not exercising. Maybe this afternoon I can still fit something in. I'm making different choices [since working on Fed Up ]. I'm really looking at the labels in a much more serious way.
I look at the list of ingredients; at how much sugar has been added. I calculate what that really means, because it's always in grams and not in teaspoons; I've become much better at math! I try not to have eight ounces of orange juice in the morning because there's so much sugar in that.
I cut my orange juice with sparkling water. I don't buy low-fat things anymore; I buy natural peanut butter without added ingredients. I think I've just become just much more aware of what I'm eating. I don't eat so mindlessly.
