How do bubble bags work
Gently press out the moisture. Always rinse the bags thoroughly with cold water immediately after use. Do not use warm or hot water, as this will clog the screens. For the Bubble Machine, use the same method. Repeat as necessary. Just add a bucket, herb, ice, and water. The standard method of ice water bubble hash making is done in a single bucket.
I will instruct how to use two buckets in order to speed up production, get better yields, and a longer lifespan out of your bubble bags. Bucket 1 : Use bucket 1 for filtering.
Line the bubble bags inside of this bucket, putting the fine-screened micron bags at the bottom and the larger screen bags on top of them in order. Bucket 2 : Use bucket 2 to stir your cannabis together with ice and water. The benefit of using a separate bucket is so you can really work it without damaging any bags inside. Add your cannabis buds, trimmings, etc. It helps to freeze your cannabis material before working.
Then presoak it to soften up. As for the ratio of ice to water, using only ice cubes with no water will make it hard to stir, but the colder you get it, the easier it is to knock trichomes off.
So try just adding a bit of water until you can start to work it. In time the ice will melt. Put your stirring stick into the bucket, then churn the cannabis and ice water mixture together. This will knock off trichomes and release them into the water, which will eventually be filtered, collected, and dried to produce bubble hash.
Keep stirring the mix for a good 10 minutes or longer. Sometimes the weed will stay compressed in the bottom, so flip and stir thoroughly. Some people like to use kitchen appliances or power tools to help stir. The choice is yours. Slowly pour bucket 2 the material into bucket 1 the hash bags.
Stay away from the sides of the bubble bags; aim directly into the center of the screens. Pull each bubble bag out one by one, letting the drip fall into the next smaller screen bubble bag below it. The first bag is just the ice and cannabis, so it will drain out pretty fast. I hope this is acceptable and an okay place to post. I do get good results. I think all of you will too. This little step by step on how to use the Bubble Bags is more or less a combination of my own trial and errors and watching YouTube videos.
I tried to pick and choose what works best for me. Materials: drill with a paint mixer attachment, 5 gallon bucket, Bubble Bags 5 gallon sized , paper towels, lots of ice like the size of bag of ice you can get from the gas station , a plate, 25 micron press screen, Frozen trim place any material you want to use in the freezer the night before making your hash.
Bag order: smallest Micron size bag goes first into the five gallon bucket followed by increasing Micron size bag placed into the previous bag all the way to the top of the five gallon bucket. Pre mix: Take 5 gallon bucket fill the bottom with enough ice to cover the bottom of the bucket. Place bags smallest to largest microns into 5 gallon bucket. Place ice first into bottom of Micron work bag.
Then take trim and add that to the work bag. Continue alternating between ice and trim until a few inches from the top of the bucket. Fill the bucket with as much water as you can but leave room to mix.
Let ice water and trim sit for 20 minutes to get cold. In the mix: stir the mixture for 15 min with the drill and paint mixer attachment.
Add more ice if needed. Stir the mixture solution for another 15 minutes with the drill and paint mixer attachment. It is okay once again if a white foam appears on the top of your mix solution. Let the freshly mixed solution settle for 20 minutes for all trichomes to settle on the bottom of the bags. Harvesting the hash: slowly remove each bag one-by-one allowing the cold water to drain into the next bag by holding each bag over the following bag.
If any trichomes are stuck to the sides of the bags and or the screen, gently wash the sides of the bag with ice cold water from the pitcher to gather the trichomes on the center of the screen.
Take the bag that is emptied of water, containing hash, and take your spoon and scrape off any and all trichomes that have gathered on the bottom of the screen.
It may be necessary to fold the bag so you almost turn it inside out to make it easier to scrape the screen. Take hash from your spoon and place it on a half side of the 25 micron press screen. Lightly dab the screen with paper towels to remove excess water. Repeat this process for each bag until done.
Freezing and drying hash: place the folded 25 micron screen with all your hash onto a plate that has a piece of wax paper on it. It just needs to be frozen enough to easily pick the hash off of your 25 micron press screen.
It is the smallest micron bag in the kit, and often the full melt bag for sativa strains. This bag produces a very nice grade of herbal extract.
When used with certain types of plant material, comes out blonde to white. If your bubble is going to bubble, it's often found here first. It pulls most of the contaminant out of the final product, and that's why we use it all the time.
It does not get caught in hand mixers and such. This is the last bag to be placed in your bucket. That is the conclusion of part 1, for a seven bag kit. If you have a 3 bag kit or an 8 bag kit, you would just place them in the bucket in the same order — from smallest micron size to largest.
Ok, now that we have added the last bag, it is time to put our water in the bucket. A recommended practice is to have your water and ice settling together in a separate bucket.
This will get keep the water nice and cold and eliminate a common problem of not putting enough ice in to get the temperature to 4 degrees Celsius or lower. Here is a large bowl of trim about to be tossed into the bags to be turned into sweet Bubblehash. Adding some nice cold water from the tap helps in keeping the ice from melting all at once. Add your leaf!
This is the most important part of the process. Any plant containing glandular trichomes will work with this process. It is important to note that when adding the leaf, do not put any in until you have raised your water above the level of the screen. This will keep contaminant from entering your first few bags right from the start.
Nice large cubes of frozen glacier water will surely make this batch a success. The ice makes the melt. Keep the mixer well out of the water as this can be dangerous. I suggest using a hand mixer for all those that don't want to play with electricity. Let the mixture sit for 10 to 15 minutes after mixing to allow the gland heads to settle. Once this bag has settled for half an hour you can pull it out, being careful to not let small pieces of leaf into your bags underneath it.
From here we settle the bags for half an hour. This allows the resin glands to sink down, now that they have been broken free from their cannabis wombs. They sink down in the water and fall through our series of screens. The first to be pulled will be the blue bag. Containing all the leaf material, you can do one of two things here. A: dump the contents into your compost , or B: save the washed material in order to run again another day.
