Dawnguard can i switch sides
They are more than likely sporting crossbows, though you probably will not come across enhanced or Dwarven versions and definately will not be able to get the exploding bolts. I think the best you can get is the standard crossbow with the Dwarven bolts looted from Dwarven Spheres.
I recommend that you do not join the vampire side to become a Vampire Lord unless you cure yourself immediately after getting the achievement because you do not regenerate Health, Magicka, or Stamina in sunlight. Also, being a werewolf is better because you can go to Solsteim if you have the Dragonborn DLC and get rings that augment your abilities in beast form more damage per hit but take more damage from enemies, slow time when in beast form, health regenerates in beast form.
Hi, old topic but there is a way, I want to share, go data files in skyrim launcher and uncheck dawnguard. Save game and quit, check dawnguard. Now go any city, Durak will approach you and Dawnguard quest starts from beggining. Dont forget you may lose some content. But game may crash when you uncheck dawnguard.
I'm now wanting to explore the Vampire Lord Tree and was wondering 1 is it impossible to switch sides at this point? Also, is it impossible to get Castle Volhikar now? I would switch sides now if I could. Thanks for the help! Re: Dawnguard - Switching sides and Vampire Lord powers. Ok, so after some more searching, I think that the only Vampire Lord power enhancements one would miss out on from siding with the Dawnguard are 4 pieces of gear: Ring of the Erudite Ring of the Beast Amulet of Bats Amulet of The Gargoyle as well as the Bloodstone Chalice which essentially acts as a blessing shrine similar to the 9 Divines or Auriel's shrine.
And of course you get Castle Volhikar instead of Fort Dawnguard. Can people who sided with the Vampires through the quest line give their opinion about those rings and amulets? At the moment, I'm having a hard time understanding what answer you're looking for in this question that wouldn't have fit the other one, and the end goal here is to get you the answers you're looking for.

For example blood of ancients makes the vampire drain skills drain magicka, health and stamina and this carries over into the vampire lord drain ball skill.
So I'm guessing from what you said you can't obtain those upgrades you mentioned if you side with the Dawnguard at any point, you have to side with the Vamps to get them?!?!
